Importing and adding risks

Import and add risks to build your company's strategic risk profile.

How it works

Once you have identified strategic risks within your company, you can import the risks from the Risk Library and manually add the risks to build your company's strategic risk profile.

Method Description Useful for...
Import risks from Risk Library imports common key risks disclosed across a given industry. Risks are curated and normalized from S&P 500 10-k reports, Basel, and more.
Tip

This is the quickest method.

  • bulk adding multiple risks to Risk Profile
  • helping companies get set up quickly in the enterprise risk management process
  • helping companies benchmark to ensure all relevant risks are being considered
Manually add risks individually adds risks to Risk Profile
  • quickly adding a single risk to Risk Profile
  • customizing risks that are relevant and specific to your company

Permissions

Only Strategy Admins and Oversight Executives can add and import risks to risk profile, and edit and delete risks. Oversight Reviewer can browse the Risk Library, but they are not able to import risks to risk profile.

Import risks from the Risk Library

  1. Open the Strategy app.
  2. Click Risk Library. The Risk Library side panel opens.
  3. Do any of the following:
    • To search for risks, enter a keyword or phrase in the search box.

The search displays relevant results based on the risk title.

    • To filter risks by category and/or industry, select the appropriate options from the All Risk Categories and All Industries dropdown lists.

Risks are sorted alphabetically by title. For more information on the types of risks available in Risk Library, see Risk Library in a nutshell.

      Tip

Best practice is to review industry-specific risks first, and then move on to general risks that are applicable to your company. General risks do not have a description, but you can always create a description for the risk once you have imported it to Risk Profile.

    • To expand all risks and view risk descriptions, click expand all .
  4. Optional. To view details about a risk, including the description, industry, and risk category, click the arrow .
  5. Select the risks you want to import to your risk profile, or select the checkbox next to the Risk header to select all risks in the list.
  6. Click Import (#) Risks.

The risks are saved in Risk Profile in the left-most column.

    • If risks exist in the left-most column, the imported risks display above the existing risks.
    • If you attempted to import 50 or more risks, you are prompted with a message and asked to click Import again to confirm adding the risks to Risk Profile. The recommended number of risks in a risk profile is 20-30.
    Note

When you import a risk, the risk is copied from Risk Library to Risk Profile. There is no link between the risk in Risk Library and the imported risk in Risk Profile.
